As the 2024 college softball season inches closer, the Oklahoma Sooners have been selected to air five nationally televised games. This comes as no surprise, as the Sooners have won three straight National Championships, helping grow the sport on a national level with their dominance.

Naturally, a matchup between No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 8 Texas was selected to be aired on ESPN, the biggest stage for collegiate sports. This isn’t the only game picked up between the two programs, though, as they’ll have another one of their matchups broadcast on ESPNU.

On top of the Oklahoma and Texas matchups, all three Bedlam matchups were selected to air on national television, too. The two in-state programs are incredible, so having their three battles air on national television in the Sooners’ final season in the Big 12 only makes sense.

Oklahoma’s season begins within a week from now, and Patty Gasso’s squad is preparing for yet another title defense. Her program will begin the season in Mexico, competing in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.

As mentioned, the Sooners are the No. 1 team heading into the season. Earlier this week, the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 was released, ranking the Sooners as the unanimous No. 1 team in the country. Again, this comes as no surprise as the Sooners have won three straight national titles.

For each of the last 13 seasons, the Sooners have been ranked within the top ten to start the season off. This comes with 11 of the past 12 of those rankings coming within the top five.

Of course, this isn’t the only college softball rankings that the Sooners headlined, as they were at the top of SPN.com/USA Softball poll, as well as the Softball America and D1 Softball preseason polls.

The Sooners remain a veteran team returning plenty of the National Title-winning team from a season ago. Within the next week, they’ll be able to hit the ground running in pursuit of their fourth-straight National Championship.
