The Oklahoma Sooners are continuing to find success on the recruiting trail. They’re a blue blood program, so there is no shock in the program continuing to recruit at a high level, even with Brent Venables heading into his third season with the program.
Heading into the SEC, the Sooners are still close to the top of the nation in recruiting. If anything, playing in the sport’s toughest league only adds to the program’s recruiting pitch to blue-chip prospects.
Oklahoma ranks atop SEC in team recruiting rankings for 2025 class
Heading into the toughest league with the likes of Alabama, Georgia, LSU and more — some of the top programs in the nation with continuous incredible recruiting classes — the Sooners holding the best recruiting class in the conference actually means something.
According to 247Sports’ team recruiting rankings, the Sooners lead the conference with their 2025 class thus far. With nine four-star recruits and six three-star recruits, the Sooners are just ahead of LSU and Texas A&M in the class. They’ve also got a league-leading 15 commitments.
This is massive for Venables and his staff. The talent coming to Norman is going to be on par with the rest of the SEC, and Venables and his staff then just have to develop the talents and implement them on the field.
Sooners’ class ranks No. 3 in the nation
The benefit of having the best recruiting class in the top conference in college football? Being near the top of recruiting rankings across the entire nation, regardless of league.
Notre Dame leads the nation in recruiting, in large part because of the 22 commitments to the program. They’re followed by Ohio State, which has just 12 commitments, but three of those are five-star prospects, helping their ranking across the nation in a big way.
The largest independent program and one of the top two programs in the other “Big Two” conference is an elite company for the Sooners as they continue transitioning into a new era.
