The 2023 college football season came to a close in January as the Michigan Wolverines defeated the Washington Huskies 34-13 in the National Championship to conclude the season.

For the Oklahoma Sooners, the season ended with a 38-24 loss to the Arizona Wildcats in the Alamo Bowl. While they lost, it began a new era for Oklahoma as they saw potential with Jackson Arnold under center, leading the offense. That was their last battle while members of the big 12 as their next bit of football action will come as members of the SEC.

While heading to the SEC will provide a tougher schedule and more competition for the Sooners, it also provides a good opportunity to better set themselves up for a College Football Playoff bid and a chance to compete for a National Championship.

According to FanDuel, the Sooners are tied for the 12th best odds to win the 2025 College Football National Championship. They currently hold +3000 odds to win the big game. Now, things will look different for the Sooners who have both a fresh offensive and defensive coordinator for the next college football season, but Brent Venables remains the head guy entering the new conference.

Of course, joining a powerhouse conference like the SEC, other in-conference programs are ahead of the Sooners in the odds to win the National Championships. Georgia has the best odds at +300, followed by Texas at +700. Alabama, who will be in their first season without Nick Saban, hold +1100 odds. LSU (+1300) and Ole Miss (+1500) are two more SEC teams ahead of the Sooners.

So, while the Sooners are tied for the 12th best odds in the nation to win the National Championship, they’re tied for the sixth-best odds of all of the SEC to win the National Championship, showing how much parity and talent they’re going to face in their path to winning a championship.
