While the 2024 college football season is still a ways away, looking forward to the new season is entertaining. Conference realignment will be in full effect, and it’ll see Oklahoma — along with Texas — join the SEC, the premier college football conference.

Along with the two former Big 12 programs joining the SEC, UCLA, USC, Washington and Oregon will be competing in the Big Ten. College football as a whole will look plenty different in September, and it’s going to be an incredible, weird season because of the changes.

With the conference changes and new season lingering, sportsbooks are beginning to release their bettings odds for programs to win their respective conferences for the 2024 college football season. According to their win total line set by FanDuel, which was 7.5 wins, Vegas believes the Oklahoma Sooners will finish mid-table in the SEC, which they formally join on June 1.

BetOnline released their odds for each program to win the conference. Naturally, the Sooners hold the ninth-best odds — also mid-table — to win the conference at 50/1. They’re tied with Auburn, who finished 6-6 last season under their first season with Hugh Freeze, in the odds.

Finally joining the new conference, as was reported originally in 2021, the Sooners are set for a defining season in the SEC. Finishing with eight or nine wins could be massive, but winning the conference outright would be a huge, huge hurdle. They’ve got to get through programs like LSU, Texas, Alabama and Georgia to get to the top of the conference. Programs like Ole Miss and Missouri will also pose a challenge, too.

All around, the Sooners being in the SEC will be nothing like the Big 12, but the program will only benefit from it. Entering a new era with Brent Venables entering his third season as the programs head coach, the Sooners will see Jackson Arnold take the program into the new conference as the starting quarterback.
